Braxton County Schools is accepting proposals for local fruits and vegetables for the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program from October 9-25, 2023. The RFP must be time stamped via email by 2pm EST October 25, 2023. The RFP is for the 2023-2024 school year with three optional renewal years if the county continues to be selected for the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program. The request is for deliveries of fruit and vegetables to six elementary schools. Preference will be given to vendors within a 150-mile radius of Braxton County Schools’ central office. Proposals must be written and include the following details to be accepted as a valid proposal:
Vendor(s) must have a license to operate as a business in West Virginia, GAP Certification, a Health Department Permit and the most recent Health Inspection should not have any violations that were not corrected upon reinspection. Vendor(s) must also submit certificate of Liability Insurance with proposal and all documents outlined in the RFP packet.
1.. Variety of fruit and vegetables are quoted that are ready-to-serve and portioned in single serve packaging. (20 points of 100 possible).
2.. Delivery to our six elementary schools weekly. (20 points of possible 100).
3. All required documents are submitted and completed. (10 points of 100 possible).
4. Online ordering platform for cooks at each school. (15 points of 100 possible).
5. Cost (35 points of 100 possible)
The first delivery of fruits and vegetables must occur within 2 weeks of being awarded the bid.

Proposal Format: The proposal must be either a word document or a PDF and sent as an email attachment. Each of the five criteria above must be specifically addressed in the proposal. A copy of the vendor’s license must be submitted for criteria 1. RFP will be awarded by October 30 and first delivery is expected within two weeks. Vendor will receive notice of award via email notification.
