Student in cap and grown

Braxton County Schools invites you to become a vital part of

 “Transforming Education”

for the students of Braxton County.

Every school system is unique, but they are connected by a shared aspiration: that all students have an educational experience that prepares them to become lifelong learners and contributing members of society.

Now more than ever, school experiences must not only provide for the acquisition of rigorous academic content but must also be more intentional about fostering critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity, and other 21st century skills and habits of mind that our students need to navigate and thrive in this complex, rapidly changing world.

Working collaboratively through a series of questions, our school system, along with our communities, business, and industry, will develop a Portrait of a Graduate, a collective vision that articulates Braxton County’s aspirations for their students.

As a community, dedicated to our children and youth, it is important to ask ourselves:

  • What are the hopes, aspiration, and dreams that our community has for our young people?
  • What are the hopes, aspirations, and dreams that you have for our young people?
  • What are the skills and habits of mind that our children and youth need for success in this rapidly changing and complex world?
  • What are the best practices that can be used in our school system that make learning equitable for all students?
